Part bare biography, part trenchant treatise, part rebel dispatch, part dirty nailed utopian manifesto, part declaration of f*ucking independence, part rabble and rant, this book, freshly re-minted, is a long look back in love and anger. Most people reading this magazine know John Sinclair’s prescient post as the garrulous guru behind the MC5, like a kind of bearded and beaded Malcolm McClaren, but without the guile, snobbery, and schoolboy anarchic habits. Instead, John was one part Abbie Hoffman, Eldridge Cleaver, Che Guevara, and Allen Ginsberg, a very heady mix that still retains potency and power even in this age of Baby Boomer meltdown, when “green” is about the only radical path left, and even that has been completely homogenized by suburban minivan moms and co-opted by “clean” corporate profit mongering.....
